OK, I’m srsly getting excited about this convention. Just today I was hearing someone describe the moment to come when President Biden comes out to introduce Kamala Harris for her acceptance speech and the crowd applauds for 10 minutes straight, thanking him and honoring him for his service and his sacrifice. I get teary just thinking about it.
But even the runup to Day 4 is going to be historic. There is so much excitement, so much new energy, so much JOY upwelling across this country—and it will all be channelled into the convention. I’m hoping that the organizers will present a stark contrast to the hate-filled, dark, doomer RNC convention and ride purely on joy and optimism—about our future, about the Democratic party and what they can do for our country, and even about Donald Trump, in that WE ARE GOING TO WIN!
This country is at a crossroads. The choices are so clear:
Past, or future?
Hope, or fear?
Democracy, or autocracy?
Hate, or inclusion?
Rule by and for the rich, or equal opportunity for all?
Gutting the Constitution, or bolstering it?
Restoring bodily autonomy for women, or returning to the days of chattel?
I could go on.
Both Clintons will (I hope) speak. Barack and Michelle Obama will speak. Let’s have lots of music and dancing. I also secretly hope that the organizers have a star-studded entertainment lineup featuring BIG names. Beyonce? Taylor Swift? Anybody else that wants to show up the RNC?
Kamala is ready. We are ready. LET’S GO!
